The Abilities in Action Program is a new way for families to access individualized therapy at Five Counties Children’s Centre, including autism-related services. Abilities in Action is designed to help children and their families grow, connect and thrive, while aligning with the stated vision of Five Counties …building abilities for life!
What We Provide
Abilities in Action offers the following services:
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech-Language Therapy
- Assessments and treatment packages tailored to meet your child’s unique needs.

How We Can Help
Abilities in Action is separate from our services funded by the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. The focus of Abilities in Action is to:
- Work alongside you to better understand your child
- Talk with you about the best pathway forward
- Create a treatment plan with goals and strategies that build your child’s confidence, strengths and abilities
- Provide practical skills that support your child’s participation at home, school, and in the community.
Who is Eligible
Abilities in Action is open to any child from birth to age 19 living in Peterborough, Haliburton County, Northumberland County and the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Families can access the program using:
- Government funding (like the Ontario Autism Program, Jordan’s Principle, etc.)
- Workplace benefits
- Other funding sources.
