Five Counties Children’s Centre (FCCC) has been dedicated to supporting children and youth with physical, developmental and communications needs for 50 years. In partnership with families and communities, we provide outpatient and community-based services with the aim of enriching the independence and wellness of those we serve ~ Building Abilities for Life. We assess and treat clients from infancy to their late teens, offering a wide variety of services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, social work and therapeutic recreation. We provide treatment in schools, in the community and at our locations in Peterborough, Lindsay, Cobourg, Campbellford and Minden.
FCCC is proud of the partnerships we have developed within the community. These partnerships have assisted families in our communities to access additional services that are needed to assist with their child’s development.
About the Job:
We are accepting applications for an immediate vacancy in our Peterborough office for temporary, part-time Social Service Worker. This assignment will be for approximately nine months (to March 31, 2027) working 3 days per week.
In this position, you will provide support to families and clients to assist them in accessing services such as funding and community resources. You will support families in-person and/or virtually from all regions served by Five Counties Children’s Centre.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Meet and assist families in completing funding applications.
- Connect families to community resources.
- Group programming as related to above.
- Provide supportive services to families who require brief support.
- Liaise with social work team and clients/families to follow up regarding paperwork, need for service, and discharges.
- Coordinate meetings with families and community resources.

What You Bring:
- College diploma in Social Service Worker.
- Member in good standing of the College of Social Workers and Social Services Worker of Ontario.
- Two years experience working in children’s services, preferably with children with special needs and their families.
- Awareness of community resources for families and children/youth with complex special needs.
- Experience and understanding of a Family Centred Care model of service delivery.
- Solution Focused Coaching training is considered an asset.
- Experience working with clients/families with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) considered an asset.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work as part of a team with professionals, support staff, and other community agencies.
- Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task.
- Access to reliable and efficient transportation with the ability to travel regularly to other sites.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings.
- Clear vulnerable sector check.
- Proof of updated immunizations including COVID-19 (two doses).
