SUMMARY:CleanUP Your Water Wise Garden Workshop + Work Bee
DESCRIPTION:The weather is getting warmer and delightful bursts of colour are appearing everywhere. Are you itching to get into the garden? This is a common urge we all experience on nice April and early May days. But wait! To respect the needs of the plants and the critters nestled in the leaves and safe in the soil\, it is best to tend to your spring garden clean-up carefully\, following some simple restorative landscaping principles. \nYou’re invited for a GreenUp CleanUP your Water Wise Garden Workshop + Work Bee \nThis workshop is geared toward beginner gardeners\, but we welcome folks with more experience as well!* \nThe first part of the workshop will consist of a tour of our newly installed therapy garden in our Five Counties Children’s Centre backyard\, where we will demonstrate and discuss best practice for tidying up your eco-friendly gardens and strategies for nurturing a flourishing habitat through the summer. The workshop will be led by Hayley Goodchild who helped design and install the garden. \nThe second part of the workshop will consist of a work bee. That’s right\, this will be time to deepen your learning through hands-on practice. This will be fun\, and your help in tidying up the garden will be greatly appreciated by us at Five Counties Children’s Centre. Bring your garden gloves (we’ll also have a bunch available) and wear close-toed shoes. \nIf time allows\, the third part of the workshop will consist of more ‘how-to’ demonstrations on topics such as: proper mulching\, tree watering bags\, pruning (if available)\, planting + transplanting. \nThere is space for up to 20 participants. Please register in advance by completing this form. \nRain Date: May 31 \nWe look forward to spending an afternoon with you! \n*If you consider yourself a more experienced gardener\, we’d love your help as a support person for the work bee portion of the workshop. As an example\, you could help mentor new gardeners during the work bee + help participants discern between plants and weeds. \nMany thanks to Peterborough Utility Group for funding and support for the Water Wise Landscape Recognition Program.
