Northumberland Fire & Frost Festival 

Northumberland Fire & Frost Festival is back – and Five Counties is joining in the fun!

Dalewood Golf Club, Green Canoe Outfitters and William Street Beer Co. are present the 2nd Annual Northumberland Fire and Frost Festival February 15th & February 16th, 2020.

This is a family friendly weekend of outdoor activities, amazing food and drink and live music all within the picturesque backdrop of Northumberland County.

Details about the event are unfolding so stay tuned!

Outdoor activities include snowshoeing, cross country skiing, tobogganing, tubing and hiking the property. Bring your own equipment if you have it, but we will have some items to borrow. Rentals for snowshoes will be available both days.

Inside warm activities include a movie & trivia & entertainment from local live bands, and an interactive indoor play station provided by Five Counties.

Dalewood will be featuring a full breakfast buffet both days from 9-12pm and lunch menu from 12-5pm. Kids Menu will also be available.

Saturday evening will feature a Fire & Frost Fiesta with Special Guests Ray Rey’s who will be serving up Mexican food for the masses!

Five Counties Amazing Race!

When: February 17, 2020 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (8:30 registration)

Where: Five Counties Children’s Centre, Dr. Mary Thain Site, 872 Dutton Road, Peterborough 

Wondering what to do on Family Day? Join us for Five Counties’ Amazing Race! The Five Counties’ Amazing Race runs from 9 am to 1 pm and starts in the Five Counties’ parking lot in Peterborough. (8:30 am registration)

Teams will follow clues around the city, discovering new activities and challenging your problem-solving skills as a group. Awards also go to the best-dressed team.

Compete for the Top Prize – A box for up to 18 people at the Toronto Marlies game on March 7.

Prizes also awarded for Best Team Name and Best Costume!

The entry fee is $200 per team – 4 to 6 people per team with a limit of 2 adults per team (each team must have at least one member under age 12 years old)

Family/Caregiver Pediatric ABI Workshop

When someone suffers a brain injury the whole family is affected. If you have a partner, spouse, child, relative or close friend with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) it is important to recognize that this situation can be highly stressful to you and it is important to seek support.

“Support, Hope & Resiliency: An Education and Training Program for Caregivers of Acquired Brain Injury Survivors” is a 1/2 day workshop covering topics such as:

1. Understand How ABI Has Changed My Loved One
2. Discover Ways to Manage the Emotional, Cognitive and Physical Changes of ABI
3. Understand How ABI Has Changed My Family and How to Manage These Changes
4. Understand How ABI Has Changed Me
5. Discover Ways to Support Myself through the Emotional, Social and Physical Challenges of Caregiving

The Caregiver Workshops are completely free but require registration online. Registration is necessary as workshops fill up quickly.
