A planned gift means making arrangements, within your estate or long-term financial plans, for a gift which is arranged now and made available in the future, usually after death. A planned gift may be part of your will. It may be a life insurance policy, annuity or charitable remainder trust. As these gifts usually involve some type of legal document it’s best that you discuss a planned gift with your lawyer, accountant or financial advisor.

A gift-in-kind usually involves something tangible. Five Counties has received items such as office furniture, computers, toys, wheelchairs, commodes, walkers, crutches that people no longer have a need for. If the item is brought to Five Counties we’ll assess it and let you know if we feel it can be of some use to us. If you'd like to discuss a possible gift-in-kind, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A gift-in-kind can also be in the form of equities. It's much more beneficial to the donor to make a gift of shares to a charity, then to cash them in and donate the proceeds. You should discuss this with your financial advisor.

3 Most Common Types Of Gifts
This is a donation with “no strings attached”. The donor leaves it up to the organization to decide where the funds are needed most. For some organizations it might be a piece of equipment or a room to be built. In the case of Five Counties our greatest need is additional therapists. They are our “equipment”. Donations that come in unrestricted help the Centre maintain therapy for children. If we are unable to sustain this funding children may go back on our waiting list. Any additional funds raised would allow Five Counties to provide services to the remaining 500 children still waiting for services. To make a donation now click here
This is a donation that has “strings attached”. A donor identifies their gift be used for a specific purpose. In some cases we receive donations for a particular service like Speech or Occupational Therapy. Or, it might be to buy equipment for a department like recreation or physiotherapy. Click here
if you would like more information about the services provided at Five Counties. This may help you choose how you would like your donation to be invested, if you are considering a restricted gift. Of course there are numerous other “things” that need to be purchased by departments, which change from day to day. This is a donation that is an “investment” in the future of the organization. This gift is not used, rather “invested”. The income generated from these gifts is used each year by Five Counties to hire staff that provides therapy. Our goal is to try to increase the size of our Endowment Fund. This would allow us to generate more revenue, thereby hiring more therapists and take children off the waiting list. To make a donation now click here
