Preschool Resource Teachers help children with confirmed or possible delays in development in the home and/or child care settings in Peterborough County. Resource Teachers provide activity suggestions to encourage children’s skill development, help families with the coordination of services for their child, and provide support to childcare programs. Services are available to children from 2 to 6 years of age and on a consultative basis for children 6 to 12 years attending licensed childcare (before/after school and/or during school breaks).
Other Available Programs
Children with behaviour difficulties may also be eligible for support through their childcare program and the Preschool Consultation Program in partnership with Kinark Child and Family Services. Contact the Centre’s Resource Teacher program for more information.
Licensed childcare programs may apply for funding for additional staffing to make it possible for children (infants to 12 years of age) with special needs to be included in childcare programs.
Other agencies provide this service in the counties of Haliburton (Haliburton Family Services), Northumberland (Northumberland Child Development Centre) and City of Kawartha Lakes (Community Living Kawartha Lakes).
