Therapeutic Recreation

Therapeutic Recreation promotes and supports the participation of children with disabilities in recreational activities.  This service assists children with developing leisure skills and knowledge, loans out adapted recreation equipment and works closely with community recreation and physical education providers to include children with special needs.  Services are available to Centre clients.

Introducing an exciting new community program hosted by the Jack Burger Sports Complex in Port Hope: Special Needs Shinny for youth and adults, including those who use wheelchairs.  Click here for more information or visit the Port Hope website for ice time.


Muay Thai Martial ArtsMuay Thai Martial Arts Flyer 2018_banner

In partnership with Dohjo Muay Thai & Fitness this introductory program is designed for children and youth 6 years and older. Come practice Kickboxing and Boxing under direction of Mike Doherty, owner/lead instructor from 25 October – 13 December 3:30 pm – 4:15 pm. This program is a great opportunity to develop self-confidence, gross motor skills and have fun!

Little Guppies Fall 2018 Ptbo Banner

Little Guppies is an open swim time where families can explore the world of water together, using songs and toys to have fun and meet other families from Five Counties Children’s Centre.

The program is running in Peterborough County Tuesdays 12:30 – 1:30 pm at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre from September 18 – December 4.

 Five Counties Family Fun Nights

Family Fun nights run once a month and are an opportunity for kids and parents to connect and have fun together as a family. Join the fun with your child and build relationships with our community and other families. Community events do have a fee/cost per family.

Creative Movement with Studio 505- Fall 2018

Designed to foster a love of dance and creative expression in children with special needs the primary goal of Adaptive Dance classes is for the children to experience the pure joy of dance and music. Program benefits: build balance and coordination, overall fitness, focus, listening, self-esteem, self-expression, rhythm and musicality.

Registration is open for the SkateABLE Learn to Skate program. SkateABLE

The SkateABLE program is catered to children living with physical and developmental disabilities. All adaptive equipment is provided free of charge. The Peterborough Fall Session runs at the Northcrest Arena on Tuesdays at 4pm beginning October 23rd.
